Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Do you do appraisals?

A. Sorry, NO, I’m good at fixing, repairing and finishing but I’m not so good at prices. I have been told that some of my items for sale are underpriced, so I wouldn’t want you to miss out on a fair price because of me.

Q. Do you buy items?

A. Yes, but only items that are in need of repair. We are not going to be a good customer for you if you are looking to make money off your piece. We will pay a small fee to those who want to know that their piece will get a new life and will be able to service a new owner for many years.

Q. Can you repair scratches in the finish?

A. Most of the time I would say yes, however, there are times when it is not worth it or it is just too far gone to make that type of repair possible. With that said, there may be other ways to make the repair.

Q. Do you only repair furniture?

A.No. Over the years I have repaired many, many things that are not furniture. Some examples are: wall sconces, small decor statues, interior & exterior doors, wooden clocks, wood counter top display case, cabinet doors, a black walnut equestrian travel box, I have even restored crystal lamps.

Q. Will you pick-up and deliver?

A. Well, that is not as easy to answer as you might think. The reason is there are many variables. If it is a small item (one that I can handle by myself or if someone will be there to help load it) and I’m going to be in your area, sure, no charge for pickup. Same thing for delivery if I’m going to be in your area (and I can handle it by myself or if someone will be there to help unload it) I’ll drop it off, no charge. Now, I really don’t like the idea of a flat rate fee, here’s why— one person might live 2-3 miles away and have an item that doesn’t have to be taken apart and is fairly easy and low risk to handle. Another person may live 40-50 miles away, have a large piece with radius glass or needs to be disassembled and is high risk to transport. So, with all that in mind a P&D charge could be as little as $25.00 or as high as $250.00, maybe even more.

Q. Can you replace bent or curved glass?

A. As of today, I can say yes. However, these sources are becoming relatively rare.

Q. Can you replace the Hi-Temp glass?

A. Yes — if you have a pellet or wood burning stove we can probably get the glass for you.

Q. I am doing a project myself but don’t have all the tools I need, can you make some cuts for me?

A. Yes — I have no problem doing custom milling.

Q. How much do you charge for making cuts?

A. That depends on the size of the job. If you just need one or two cuts, probably a $1.00 a cut. If you want 4, 5, or 6 cuts then maybe fifty cents a cut. If you want more cuts than that we will go by time with a fifteen minute minimum at &15.00 and $1.00 per minute after the first 15 minutes.
